A day well spent @ Melrose Home
On 26 November 2011, AXA Insurance and AXA Life organized a day of fun sports for the children of MELROSE HOME - AXA's adopted charity. More than 40 AXA volunteers including intermediaries, participated in this fun event. Chua Kim Soon and Glenn Williams, the CEOs of AXA GI and AXA Life respectively, have also set aside their busy schedule to bring smiles to these young children. Many activities including educating the children to overcome life's risks were prepared for the kids, whose ages ranged from as young as 3yrs to 18 years old. There were outdoor games such as Captain's Ball, Water Balloons, Telematch, and Amazing Race. It was a friendly competition among the playing teams which were participated both by the children and volunteers. The program ended with a sumptuous lunch for everyone to share, followed by the awarding of prizes to the winning teams.
Everybody had fun playing and bonding with the precious children of the Home. It brought out the child-like spirit in each volunteer. It was heartwarming to see the joy that AXA has brought to these little children's lives. This wonderful experience is indeed priceless.
The feedback received from the children was tremendous - they thoroughly enjoyed the event and they especially liked the prizes which were the Popular Book vouchers and the lunch! When asked what they would like us to organize in the future, their reply was "take us out for excursions!".
So, look out for our next activity with the Home and see you there.
The Home currently needs volunteer tutors to teach Primary & Secondary Level residents. If you or your family members are able to commit at least once a week in the weekdays (during or after work) to volunteer, please express your interest by dropping an email to christina.wee@axa.com.sg. AXA Asia Life Reaches Out To Haiti
9 February 2010
AXA and employees in Asia rally together to raise
Euro 60,000 for the Red Cross
Hong Kong, 9 February, 2010 - AXA Asia Life today announced that the company and its 4000 plus employees in eight countries have raised over Euro 60,000 in cash for Haiti. Employees contributed Euro 30,000 while AXA Asia Life matched the amount dollar-for-dollar to bring the total to Euro 60,000. The donation will be channeled through the International Committee of the Red Cross and its local chapters to help the most destitute people in camps and care for unaccompanied children.
"We were saddened to hear of the devastation caused by the earthquake but we are heartened by the courage of the Haitian people and the determination of relief agencies and rescue workers. Our employees rallied together when the call for donations was made and we hope our contribution will help in some way to improve the situation there," said Mike Bishop, Regional Chief Executive, AXA Asia Life.
Understanding that the most effective means of support is to donate money to international relief agencies and get the right materials to Haiti quickly, AXA's 200,000 plus employees from 50 countries opted to raise funds for the Red Cross. AXA employees worldwide, with the exception of employees in the U.S. and Italy, raised Euro 606,000. The Group will match the same amount and donate Euro 606,000 to the Red Cross this month. In March the Group will make a final donation, which comprises the matching of collections from its employees in the U.S. and Italy.

AXA Hearts in Action
Sarah Home was our adopted charity for the year and AXA Life's employees were given the chance to do their bit for the society.
About 20 staff companied and took good care of over 30 old folks from Sarah Home for a trip to the Singapore Zoological Gardens.
Another project was the refurbishment of the 1 room flat of an elderly couple. 13 AXA staff took the day off work to repaint and fix up new furniture and gave the old flat a complete facelift.
Chinese New Year is also a time of sharing and giving. The managers went over to Sarah Home and we treated the old folks with a sumptuous early Chinese New Year reunion dinner and had the auspicious "Lo Hei", bringing the spirit of Chinese New year to them.
